Richard J. Pilkington, Founder, Chairman & CEO
Mr. Pilkington has an extensive management, technology and sales background in the Electronic Payments and Telecommunications industries. He gained the bulk of his experience at MCI Telecommunications Corporation where he was instrumental in the successful launch of the campus MCI Internet project. Prior to MCI, he was with Nortel’s Transmission Networks Division and was responsible for marketing Nortel’s RBOC and IXC transmission products. He also led the team that launched Nortel’s SONET standards compatible fiber-optic transmission systems. Richard is a graduate of the DeVry Institute of Technology in Atlanta.
Edward A. Marcoe, Jr. President
Mr. Marcoe joined CheckVelocity in September 2007 as Executive Vice President responsible for corporate strategy and business development.
Mr. Marcoe brings over thirty years of executive-level leadership encompassing business and corporate development, operations, sales, marketing and M&A activity.
Mr. Marcoe joined CheckVelocity from Dialogic Communications Corporation where he was Chief Operating Officer. Under Mr. Marcoe’s leadership, Dialogic Communications became the undisputed global leader in providing critical communications technology to both public and private organizations worldwide. Dialogic was acquired in late 2006 by PlantCML, a Golden Gate Capital portfolio company, and was recently acquired by EADS North America for $350M.
Prior to joining Dialogic, Mr. Marcoe was involved at the senior leadership level with The Berry Company, which was acquired by Bell South Corporation in the mid-1980s, and Epic Corporation, a venture capitol funded software development company that was acquired by a group of Nashville investors in the mid-1990s. Both companies experienced high growth rates during Marcoe’s tenure and, as a result, became candidates for acquisition.
Mr. Marcoe holds a degree in Business from Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Todd A. Burke, Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Burke serves as Chief Operating Officer and is responsible for the sales and operations of the company. He has 18 years experience in management, sales, and operations in the electronic transaction processing industry for financial services and healthcare.
Prior to joining CheckVelocity, he served as Chief Operating Officer for PalmGear, Inc, the largest distributor for Palm OS Software. Mr. Burke served 5 years as the Executive Vice President of Medifax EDI from 1998 to 2002 and managed all the sales, marketing and service operations in which the business achieved substantial growth rates. Medifax EDI is the leading provider for electronic patient eligibility information in the United States.
From 1988 to 1996, Mr. Burke held various senior positions at PMT Services, including acquisitions, conversions, operations, and sales. PMT is a credit card processing company. Todd is a graduate from Belmont University with a degree in Operations Management.
Melissa S. Gray, Treasurer, Executive Vice President and CFO
Ms. Gray previously served as controller and now holds the position of Treasurer, Executive Vice President and CFO. She is responsible for overseeing both the internal and external financial activities and accounting functions of the enterprise. Ms. Gray held related positions with Gaither, Rutherford & Co., LLC, and Nashville Peterbilt, Inc. prior to joining CheckVelocity in early 2004. She holds a BS in Accounting with a minor in Math, as well as an MBA from Middle Tennessee State University.
David Newman, Executive Vice President
Mr. Newman serves as Executive Vice President of the Company and is responsible for sales to both financial institutions and national accounts. With over 15 years of experience in the banking industry, he also is involved with investor relations and strategic financial planning of the corporation.
Before joining CheckVelocity, Mr. Newman spent 5 years as an officer within the Midsouth Commercial Banking group of Bank of America where he earned President’s Club recognition and the Nashville Business Journal Award for Distinguished Sales and Marketing. Mr. Newman started his banking career in Memphis with First Tennessee Bank, serving the financial needs of a large portfolio of commercial clients. He graduated with honors from the Southeastern School of Banking at Vanderbilt University. David received his degree from the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University.
